"We don't really like cats," said Alex Hughes, 6, second from left, about why she decided to put on a dog wash recently in her Grosse Pointe Park driveway. Originally Alex wanted to have a traditional lemon aide stand, but decided on the dog wash because she wants to be a vet when she grows up. With moms help they worked out a budget and a price point of $10 per wash that included free water and dog treats. Each friend that helped earned $1 per dog, and $2 was donated to the Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption. Lastly they plastered the neighborhood with flyers and hand drawn sidewalk chalk ads and waited for business to walk in. Jesse, an 11-year-old Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever decided to shake herself dry.
